DAY 3 - December 3: When Heaven Breaks In Through What Looks Dead
DAY 3 — December 3
When Heaven Breaks In Through What Looks Dead
Scripture: Isaiah 11:1–2; Ezekiel 37:1–6
Isaiah says, “A shoot will come up from the stump of Jesse.” A stump looks like the end—cut down, lifeless. Yet heaven breaks in through what looks dead. Jesus, the Messiah, comes from a family line marked by both triumph and tragedy.
In Ezekiel 37, God asks the prophet, “Can these dry bones live?” Advent whispers the same answer: Absolutely. God brings life from what was cut down.
Maybe you’re looking at places in your life that feel like stumps—failed dreams, relationships that hurt,
disappointments you didn’t see coming. Advent reminds us that God specializes in resurrection. He brings beauty out of barrenness and new shoots out of stumps.
When heaven breaks in, endings become beginnings, and dead things grow again.
Prayer:
Lord, breathe life into every place in me that feels cut down or dry. Restore what was lost, revive what is dormant, and help me believe You can grow something new in me. In Jesus Name. Amen.
